Network is a group of devices like computer, printers and scanner connected together through a link (wire or wireless) and communicate each other. It can be small or large and can be connected through wires, cables telephone lines or wireless.
internet is a worldwide network of computers. It is the largest network or computers in the world. If u have access to the internet, you can get information from other computers connected to the internet.
Binary digits and Digital data: –
All types of data which store in a computer, whether letters, numbers and sound or visuals is store in a form of zero(0) and ones(1).
Binary digits” means two digits, since all the data is express in form of 0s and 1s and it is known as binary data.
Binary data is also known as digital data.
Modem (modulator/demodulator): –
Modem (modulator/demodulator) is a device that allows computer information to be transmitted and received through a telephone line.
A modem can be connected to the computer in most computer nowadays, a modem is already fixed inside the computer. The computer is connected to a line through the modem.
Internet service provider’s connection: – We also need services of an internet service provider, commonly known as an ISP. An ISP provides us connectivity to internet.
Internet browser: – internet browser is a software that we use to work on the internet. Two most commonly used browser are Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator.
E-MAIL: – (Electronic Mail) is a facility of sending and receiving messages using internet. The message can be deliver within second and you can use it to send a message to any part of the world. We can send text files and audio as well as graphics files with the message.
Web Page: – it is a page having text and graphics that you see on the internet. Each page has a unique address. It has links to other pages.
Website: – website is a collection of one or more webpages related to each other. Every website has an address which has to be fed into the computer.
World wide web: – popularly known as WWW, it is the most popular service provide by the internet which has a vast collection of information on various topics like, education, entertainment, science, whether end much more in the form of website.
Internet address: – internet address is used for a website on the internet that is used by web browser to locate internet resources.

Internet services providers(ISP): –
internet service provider (ISP) is a company that provides access to internet and the world wide web. ISP charges a monthly or hourly connection fee.
Some common ISPs in our country are:
- VSNL (Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited).
- MTNL (Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited).
- BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited).
- Satyam online commonly known as Sify.
ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network): –
ISDN is a high-speed digital telephone service that can dramatically increase the speed at which you connect to the internet.
Integrated Services Digital Network can operate at 128 kilobytes per second (kbps), which is five or more times faster than many analog modems.
Broadband connection: –
broadband connection is a high-speed connection having very good speed of connectivity and data transfer measured in kilobytes per second kbps around 512kbps and more.
